Thursday, June 4, 2020 was a special day. Not only because it’s when Katie and Brian got married, but because it was our first wedding back since the pandemic started. We had previously been shut down from the end of March to the mid/late portion of May, and those were a hard few months. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect going back. Things had changed so much and people were cautious. The staff at The Ashton Depot made sure to temp check and require masks for the vendors, which brought me some peace of mind. But walking in those big, beautiful historic doors that day was such a breath of fresh air. Minus the mask covering most of my face, things felt normal. It felt good.
Excitement and a hot summer breeze filled the air. Katie prepped with her family upstairs while Brian was hidden away just a few feet below her. The Texas sun illuminated the bits of gold and marble that accented what used to be a train station, now turned event venue. The couple opted against a First Look, so the emotions were heightened for Brian as he watched his dream girl descend the stairs on her way to him. I loved his reaction to seeing her! And wow, Katie looked incredible! Their short, but sweet wedding ceremony was officiated by Katie’s grandfather, who declared the two as husband and wife. If you’d like to view their full ceremony video, just scroll on to the bottom. Oh yes! Marc and I tag teamed this wedding; myself as the photographer, and Marc as the videographer. While he was only booked for the ceremony, I am constantly impressed at the films he puts together. It tells the story of the day perfectly.
With state guidelines having venues at limited capacity, Mr. & Mrs. Cantu were surrounded by 40 or so of the best of the best. Their guests laughed, cried, played games, and partied with them until their grand exit, where they were waved on by streamers matching their wedding colors. After their private last dance, they cruised off in a vintage car to their final destination of the evening.
Katie & Brian, your wedding was perfection. I hope you two had the best time in Lake Tahoe!
