Katy & Chase are easily two of the best people I know. It doesn’t hurt that I’m related to them, but even if I weren’t, I would consider them two of my best friends. They’re nerdy, smart, total foodies (Yelp Elite status), and have such a zest for life.
Every time we go to Utah, we stay with them at their place. If we’re not staying up too late laughing at all the things, we’re out exploring new places and trying new restaurants. This time around, Katy requested we do family photos of them. Even though it was just the two of them, she wanted to prove the point that you don’t need kids or pets or a white picket fence to be considered a family. We ventured out to Tibble Fork Reservoir, which was only about 35 minutes from their house and… Y’ALL.
THE VIEWS.
THOSE SNOW CAPPED MOUNTAINS. THE EMERALD LAKE. THE EVERGREENS. THE ICE COLD FLOWING RIVER.
I’m not saying I’m obsessed or anything, but I’ve decided the exact place that I’m building a cabin.
8 years of marriage later… I introduce to you: The Barnes Family.
This is what happens when you tickle Katy. Probably shouldn’t mess with her.
My new favorite thing to do is double exposures. There are multiple ways to do them: in camera with two exposures, in Photoshop, or simply by reflecting something else in the frame with something shiny, like an iPhone. The following photos are some of my favorite I’ve ever taken. Also, it’s pretty darn difficult to hold onto a DSLR and iPhone at the same time. My carpal tunnel wasn’t happy, but I would say these are hashtag worth it!
Katy & Chase, you’re the best. I’m so glad I get to call you my siblings. Thank you for living in Utah so I can get my mountain fix. Love you both!
I would’ve never have guess that this was in utah. When i think about utah all i see in my head is red rocks. This location is beautiful! how lucky to have your siblings live in such a beautiful place! These are gorgeous!
I think that’s mainly southern Utah, which I’m wanting to shoot in so badly! I’ve only ever driven through Moab, but it’s on my list of places to explore.
These are so stunning! I love that they went for the family shoot and how they defined it. This location too….so good!
