Oh my goodness, you guys. I’ve been absolutely terrible at blogging recently. I want to apologize profusely, but also give the reasoning why. This year has already been a whirlwind. In February, we celebrated Callum’s 6th birthday, on top of being busy with him being in his first year of school. In March, we found out we were expecting Swan Baby #2! We’re both extremely excited (Marc desperately wants a little girl), but of course I’m over here freaking out because we’re due right smack dab in the middle of Fall wedding season, which is like 10 times busier than Summer wedding season. At the very beginning of April, we found out that my Dad’s health is on the decline, even worse than it already is. He’s been in a nursing home in Wichita Falls the last few years and we found out that he hasn’t been eating. Upon hearing that, I and my sister dropped everything to be with him. She drove all the way from Indiana, and my other sister in Utah was on standby, ready to buy a plane ticket if need be. Seeing him was heartbreaking, but luckily we were able to get him to eat. He’s on the mend, as far as we’ve been told. Anyways, as you can see… life has been a little bit (lotta bit) stressful. I know that’s no excuse to disregard this blog, but sometimes you just gotta off the grid for a bit and figure things out. I’m human too!
But now let’s get down to business (to defeat. The Huns. ….yeah… I’m a total nerd. I couldn’t help it). But for real. I’ve been on the hunt for new, exciting, totally-not-swarmed-with-fellow-photographers location… and boy, did I find it!! Y’all. I FOUND A WATERFALL IN FORT WORTH. Granted, it’s no Turner Falls, but this was pretty damn exciting for me. What can I say? I never turn my photographer brain off. What’s even better is when I have clients that are totally willing to STAND IN THE RIVER if that’s what it takes to get a good shot. And guess what else? I, too, stood in that river. With my socks and shoes still on. Even though the water was sloshing around for the rest of the session, I must say it was pretty refreshing.
Kayla and Aaron are the sweetest. They’re young, in love, and planning their upcoming wedding. We were hoping for some sunshine, and to be fair we got a teeny tiny peek, but it had been raining on and off for the last couple weeks leading up to the session. Gotta love Spring! Luckily, the blooms were out and the weather was beautiful, even if it was a tiny bit overcast.
You’re ready to see this aren’t you? Ok, I won’t hold you back anymore.
I have to give huge props to these two lovebirds. Not only did they stand in a river for some beautiful pix, but they totally made their outfit change happen in the middle of a forest while people walked by. High fives for being adventurous and creative!
When Kayla stepped out of the trees in this gorgeous, flowy pink dress, I was like YESSSSSSSS this outfit is perfect for my vision!!
*sigh* I love this session so much. I promise, fellow readers, that I will be much more attentive to this blog so you can have your monthly dose of gorgeousness. If you want more day-to-day inspiration, feel free to follow me on Instagram, where I do my best to post daily. My handle is @swanphototx
If you’re a couple who is down for an adventure, let’s make it happen. There are some neat places around Fort Worth that I know of 😉 Or, we could totally make a road trip out of it and jam to rock n’ roll and eat junk food there and back. Either way 🙂
Kayla & Aaron, thank you so much for booking with me! I love the chemistry between you two and I SO appreciate that you’re as up for an adventure as me. <3 Happy wedding planning!
